My Art Journal Journey - Part 1

With all the mixed media frenzy going about and number of inspiration around the web, I've decided to give it a shot with this thing called Art Journal. I have unused paper bags lying around so I made my own small paper bag book / album and use it as my first Art Journal. Let's dive it :)

I didn't have any great ideas for my cover so I just went something simple and I will go back to decorate it if I come up with something I like. Here it is.

I covered it with white gesso and water coloured it using Distress Inks. I had a random polka dots stencil and use it and dab it with distress ink.

Now for my first page :) I combined 2 pages to make one long page. I will show you my steps but if you want to jump to the page itself, just scroll down :)

I start to prime my base with some gesso and then paint the first layer with my Distress stains.

I stuck some doilies for added interest and patterns and paint some clear crackle paint at random places. You can see at some areas were it looks 'watery', that's where I had my crackle paint.

I saved my embellishment sheet to re-use them as stencil like having those little birdies.
With the same 'stencil', I created some heavy misting so that I can have the water droplet / streaking effect.

I added chipboard thickers and painted them. Here's my finished pages. The phrase is taken from something I saw on pinterest
